For the stewards of purpose-driven capital, and those who build with it

The Practice

Every foundation, every fund, every trust has an origin story.

Someone’s conviction that their resources could mean something beyond themselves. And now, that story is in your hands.

Every firm, every center, every enterprise began the same way:

Someone’s conviction that capital could build something better.

Whether you steward that story or are building it, it carries tremendous responsibility—and transformative possibility.

Quoin is a boutique impact practice that partners with those who want to honor that responsibility, and realize that possibility.

What Quoin Does

Strategic Advisory

Where your capital should go, who’s worth funding, and how to position what you’re building.

Through moments of transition, inflection, and steady state, Quoin is a long-term partner for navigating what your capital and your story can do.

Impact Evaluation & Management

Portfolio-level visibility into what your capital truly delivers, whether philanthropic, invested, or in-between.

Whether building from scratch or refining what exists, Quoin’s insights evolve with your portfolio or your enterprise, building with each cycle and giving leadership the confidence to speak precisely about what their capital does and why it matters.

Public Narrative & Communications

The story you need to tell — to the right people, in the right register, at the right moment.

Quoin translates your impact, or your story, into the narratives you need for your family, your board, your clients, your donors, your investors, or your community. And when you’re ready, Quoin gets you in the room and in the conversation: the conferences, stages, and publications where your presence matters.

Client Spotlight

A Community Foundation managing $300M in endowed, programmatic, and donor-advised assets engaged Quoin to design its impact methodology, apply it to its grantmaking portfolio, and produce its inaugural impact report. Now in its second year, the work is being referred across the sector.

Client Spotlight

An innovative new center housed within a financial research and data lab serving institutional clients engaged Quoin to define its founding narrative, articulate its institutional voice, and carry its story to philanthropic, financial, and policy audiences. The work has helped secure significant media placements and now supports new funder and client conversations.

The Principal

Pedro Henriques da Silva

Founder & Principal

Pedro Henriques da Silva, founder and principal of Quoin

Pedro Henriques da Silva is an investor, founder, and publisher who has spent his career aligning institutional capital with purpose. That career spans GEM Investments, a prominent investment firm managing over $10 billion in assets, the leadership and boards of national foundations, and portfolio strategy, design, and management at Mercer. At twenty-eight, he developed and led an inaugural institutional engagement initiative that drove policy and due diligence changes across more than $7.2 trillion in assets under management and advisement, convened gatherings representing over $1 trillion in institutional capital, and earned national press coverage in outlets including Forbes, Reuters, and Semafor. He is the author of Leading with Justice, a pioneering, collaborative guide to environmental health in investing, and delivered a TEDx talk on the role of capital in developing systems of change and repair.

Seeing what the field kept missing, he built and launched Quoin, an independent publication and boutique impact practice for the stewards of purpose-driven capital, and those who build with it. The publication examines how capital and power move; his Visions of the Future series convenes the people whose work, lives, or perspectives hold singular insights for shaping both.

He is a board director at several organizations, with governance experience on both sides of the board-staff relationship. His work proceeds from a simple conviction: that capital is best judged whole, in the context of the systems and people it depends on, influences, and serves.

Henriques da Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Reed College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and completed the General Course at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
